POSTCARD : Kirkcaldy from the east, 1838

Kirkcaldy fronm the EAST, 1838

This is a POSTCARD of a painting from Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery, by an unknown, un-named artist. It is a very inspiring image as it clearly shows the waterfront at Kirkcaldy. It depicts a great amount of detail of life at a point in time during the 1830’s. It shows the harbour in action and the smoking chimneys of the linen and linoleum factories, as well as people walking on the shoreline of the River Forth. There is also a great vista towards Edinburgh, beyond Seafield Tower. This is one of my favourite paintings.
